How to run this test
- Connect the stick or hitbox and press a button.
- Tap every button once until the checklist is complete.
- Push the lever into all eight directions.
- Perform a few motion inputs and read them back in the history.
How to read the result
- Directions
- Most sticks report the lever as the four D-pad buttons. Diagonals light up two at once. A direction that never lights up points to a microswitch or a mode setting.
- History
- Each new combination is a line. Motion inputs should appear as a clean sequence. Missing steps can mean a worn switch or a stick in the wrong mode.
Questions about this test
- My lever shows up as an analog stick instead of a D-pad.
- Many sticks have a switch that selects D-pad, left stick or right stick mode. Set it to D-pad for most fighting games.
- How do I check SOCD behaviour on a hitbox?
- Hold left and right together and see which direction lights up. The result is decided by the controller firmware and setting, and the history panel shows it exactly.
