How to run this test
- Connect the controller and press Start.
- Wait for the panel to change color. Do not press early.
- Press any controller button as fast as you can.
- Complete five rounds to get an average.
How to read the result
- Reaction time
- The time between the cue appearing and the browser seeing your press. It includes your reaction, the display, the browser and the controller connection, so compare results on the same setup.
- Average
- Typical results for adults are roughly 200 to 300 milliseconds. Use the average to compare controllers or connections, not to judge one controller on its own.
Questions about this test
- Can this measure controller input lag?
- Not on its own, because your reaction dominates the number. Swap only the controller or connection and compare averages over many rounds to see small differences.
- Why does pressing early restart the round?
- An early press would measure guessing, not reaction, so the round is discarded.
